The Spring Sales are nearly upon us with the auctions at Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Phillips, taking place this week (including Saturday 7th).

There are several highlights worth noting: a superb group of Picasso works on paper from the Hegewisch Collection; a remarkable Magritte at Christie’s titled Les grâces naturelles; and a trio of outstanding Modern British works at Sotheby’s: Bacon, Freud and Kossoff from the Lewis Collection. Despite the situation over the weekend (and onwards) I think there will be enough quality and enough of an art-buying appetite to see a strong sale week this term.
